Blind Lines Across Bull Bay

The golf course at Bull Bay Golf Club opened in 1913 on clifftop ground above the Irish Sea. William Herbert Fowler shaped the layout around the land's existing rises, hollows, and rocky character, allowing blind shots and demanding carries to remain part of the round.

Many approaches are played to greens sitting above the golfer's eyeline, so distance and landing areas can be difficult to judge. Elevated tees create broad coastal views, but gorse beside the fairways punishes drives sent away from Fowler's intended lines. The routing also changes direction often, keeping the wind involved across the course.

The par-four seventh captures Bull Bay's character. Its drive must cross a marker post near a cliff edge to reach a hidden fairway below, followed by an uphill approach past an old stone building. The closing hole begins from the course's highest tee and descends towards a green beneath the clubhouse, with wide views across Anglesey and the Irish Sea.

Why Add This Course to Your Golf Experience

Bull Bay adds an island setting to a North Wales itinerary, giving golfers a reason to travel beyond the region's better-known mainland courses. Its welcoming visitor setup and year-round play suit an Anglesey stay, while nearby Holyhead provides another contrasting round without leaving the island.

Kinfern can combine both with mainland links such as Conwy or Nefyn, creating a North Wales golf experience that moves through distinct coastal landscapes while keeping the route practical and unhurried.
