The K Club (Palmer North Course)

Along Palmer's River Liffey Test

The Palmer North Course at The K Club opened in 1991 as an Arnold Palmer design. He routed it through mature parkland beside the River Liffey, using the river as a visual guide and recurring hazard. The 8th shows this clearly, with water following the left side of the fairway.

Tournament golf soon became central to the course. The European Open arrived in 1995, and Palmer North later staged Ireland's first Ryder Cup in 2006. Europe won 18½-9½ during a week remembered for the support shown to Darren Clarke. The Irish Open followed in 2016, 2023, and 2025.

The closing stretch keeps the River Liffey close. The par-five 16th bends twice around trees and bunkers before water tightens the approach to a heavily guarded green. The 17th, called Half Moon, continues the pressure before the final hole. Choosing the correct tee matters, as the course reaches 7,337 yards from the back markers.
