Between the Railway and West Shore

The golf course at North Wales Golf Club was created in 1894 by founder Tancred Cummins, with advice and help from Harold H. Hilton, a Royal Liverpool member and two-time Open champion.

The course runs outward beside the railway before returning along Llandudno's West Shore, with views across the Conwy estuary and small greens requiring precise approaches. Natural sand hills and valleys formed by the prevailing westerly winds shape uneven lies and occasional blind shots. Only one par five appears on the card, while the inward nine includes three par threes and plays to par 34.

The closing short holes are especially distinctive. The 16th and 17th are consecutive par threes named O.L. and L.O., and the 17th plays across a valley to a raised green. Their playful names and compact demands give the finish an identity rooted in Cummins' original plan.
