A Links Rebuilt Through History

The golf course at Conwy Golf Club occupies the Morfa Peninsula at the mouth of the River Conwy. The club was formally established in 1890, although professionally designed golf began here in 1869, when Jack Morris created a 12-hole layout. He extended it to 18 holes twenty years later.

War repeatedly altered the links. Military activity almost erased the earlier course during the First World War, forcing play northwards onto its present ground. During the Second World War, construction connected with the Mulberry Harbours caused the loss of the former ninth green.

The current routing remains fairly level, yet ridges, bunkers, and coastal wind bring constant changes in shot shape. Several outward par fours demand length, while three par fives appear between the 9th and 14th. The closing stretch tightens sharply, beginning with the narrow, gorse-lined 16th.

Views across the estuary towards the Great Orme and surrounding mountains remain present throughout the round.

Why Add This Course to Your Golf Experience

Conwy adds proven championship pedigree to a North Wales itinerary, having staged the 2021 Curtis Cup and many national and international events. Its coastal location also makes it a strong anchor round before continuing west through the region.

Kinfern can pair the course with other North Wales venues to create a varied golf experience, balancing a serious links test with manageable travel and time around Conwy. The welcoming visitor setup makes it suitable for both experienced groups and mixed-handicap parties.
