The Links Beneath Kincraig Point

The golf course at The Golf House Club, Elie was formalised as an 18-hole layout by Old Tom Morris in 1895, although golf on the Earlsferry links is recorded far earlier. A royal charter from 1589 confirmed local and visitor rights to play over the "golfing tract", and reminders of that past remain visible in chapel ruins, Cadger's Way, and historic "inch" stones.

The course moves in several directions across rolling seaside ground, so the breeze from the Firth of Forth rarely affects consecutive holes in the same way. Revetted bunkers, firm greens, and subtle slopes reward imagination and control more than power.

The coastal character becomes strongest from the 11th to the 13th, where the routing reaches the Firth of Forth beneath Kincraig Point. Rock, shoreline, and exposed ground shape a stretch that could belong nowhere else, giving the course an identity closely tied to Elie and Earlsferry.

Why Add This Course to Your Golf Experience

The course brings a lighter, more instinctive rhythm to a St Andrews-based experience. Its modest length does not demand relentless power, making it a strong choice for mixed-ability groups, while the varied par fours still ask golfers to shape shots, judge firm ground, and adapt to the wind.

It also places visitors close to the character of the East Neuk, with the village, clubhouse, and coastline forming part of the day. Kinfern can include it for golfers who value traditional links personality over championship scale.
