Across Bain's Hill to the Cove

The King Robert the Bruce Course at Trump Turnberry Resort opened in June 2017 after Martin Ebert transformed the former Kintyre layout. Although much of the same footprint remained, every hole was either rebuilt or changed substantially. The name recalls Robert the Bruce, whose traditional birthplace is associated with the nearby Turnberry Castle ruins.

Early holes cross lower, gorse-lined ground before the course climbs towards its exposed middle stretch. The par-five 8th runs high above the sea, followed by the par-four 9th at Kintyre's Cove. Its approach can be played directly across the cove, while a safer line continues along the right side.

Back on lower ground, an ecological wetland between the 5th and 13th fairways adds another strategic boundary. Fairway bunkers carry marram-fringed faces, while the greenside hazards use tighter revetting. The final par five asks for an accurate approach through heavy bunkering to a green below the clubhouse.
