Where Lowlands Meet the Highlands

The Carrick Course at Cameron House Resort opened in 2007 as the 18-hole companion to the existing Wee Demon layout. It was designed by Canadian architect Doug Carrick, whose surname also gave the course its name.

Its routing follows a rare geographical divide. The opening nine cross flatter, more open ground on the edge of the Scottish Lowlands, while the inward nine climb through higher Highland terrain before returning towards Loch Lomond.

Water borders several early fairways, and the eighth, a demanding par five, is guarded by 15 bunkers. The climb continues at the tenth, High Road, where the outlook opens towards Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond.

After the elevated middle stretch, holes 15 to 17 run beside the water without bringing the loch directly into play. These shifts in ground, height, and outlook give the course a clear sense of progression, with each half asking for a different style of approach play.

Why Add This Course to Your Golf Experience

The Carrick brings inland resort golf into a South West Scotland experience often centred on coastal links. Cameron House combines the round with accommodation and other resort facilities in one place.

Kinfern can position the course near the beginning or end of a wider Scottish itinerary, especially for golfers travelling through Glasgow. This leaves room for a measured round and a comfortable overnight stay before continuing towards Ayrshire or farther west, without forcing another hotel change into the schedule.
