One Course Across Two Former Layouts

The St. Patrick's Links at Rosapenna Hotel & Golf Resort occupies 300 acres that once held two separate courses. Rosapenna acquired the site in 2012, and Tom Doak largely settled the new routing in 2013. Construction began in 2018, most greens were built in 2019, and the course opened in 2021. During pandemic travel restrictions, Eric Iverson, Clyde Johnson, and Angela Moser completed the work on site.

The opening holes move through enclosed dune corridors before the fourth reveals Sheephaven Bay. From there, the routing shifts between huge sand hills and broader, rolling ground, returning to the water at the 14th. The par-four 16th drops about 100 feet from Magheramgorgan, the course's highest point.

Wide fairways make the course playable, but its scale creates difficult choices. At the short closing hole, an approach finishing slightly short and right can fall into a hollow around 20 to 30 feet deep. That mix of room, movement, and severe consequences gives the links its modern character.
