Links Golf Beside the Poolbeg Chimneys

The golf course at St. Anne's Golf Club began as a nine-hole layout created by members in 1921. Eddie Hackett added the second nine in the late 1980s, turning the club's compact North Bull Island ground into the present 18-hole links.

The routing runs between low sand hills, with many fairways laid out in parallel across the reserve. That pattern changes the wind from hole to hole, while semi-blind targets and out-of-bounds lines place a premium on choosing the correct side from the tee. The long par-four 7th, Brent, asks for a drive to the right before an approach to a semi-blind green.

The short holes bring a different test. The par-three 10th must cross a substantial water hazard, and its club selection can shift sharply with the breeze. Later, the par-three 17th sits among tighter dunes before the round turns towards the clubhouse. The low linksland, nearby shipping, and views towards Dublin give the course a character tied closely to its unusual island setting.

Why Add This Course to Your Golf Experience

St. Anne's is a useful choice for golfers who want genuine links golf without leaving the Dublin area. Its position around eight kilometres from the city centre keeps the day practical, while the club's welcoming atmosphere provides a different experience from the region's headline venues.

Within a Kinfern golf experience, it can be paired with neighbouring Royal Dublin or placed beside Portmarnock, adding another Bull Island perspective while keeping hotel changes and transfers to a minimum.
