The Island Green Below the Manor

The golf course at Palmerstown House Estate opened in 2004 after Jim Mansfield acquired the former stud farm in 1999 and appointed Christy O'Connor Jnr to design a championship layout. The course reaches 7,419 yards from the back tees across mature County Kildare parkland. Thousands of established trees frame the fairways and separate the holes across the expansive estate.

Water becomes central on the inward nine. The par-three 10th plays to an island green below the Manor House, creating the course's clearest visual landmark. Water influences twelve holes, while extensive bunkering places a premium on choosing safe lines from the tee and into the greens.

Tournament golf arrived soon after opening. Palmerstown House hosted the Irish Region Championship in 2005 and the Irish Seniors Championship in 2007. The Irish PGA Championship followed in 2024, when Niall Kearney won by six strokes.
