Heathland Golf Above the Irish Sea

The Druids Heath Course at Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort opened in 2003 as the resort's second championship layout, designed by Pat Ruddy. Its tournament record followed quickly, with the TaylorMade 25th Anniversary Event in 2004 and the Irish PGA Championship in 2006. The course was redesigned in 2021 by Peter McEvoy and Jeff Lynch, who retained Ruddy's routing while reducing and reshaping the bunkering.

The land is broad and exposed, with long views towards the Irish Sea and Wicklow Head. Inland, the Wicklow Mountains sit on the horizon. Wind crosses the fairways with little shelter, so club selection can change sharply during a round. Raised, contoured greens make distance control especially important, while water and deep bunkers guard several approaches.

The 12th is the toughest hole on the card, a long par four that asks golfers to choose between the higher left side and the falling ground to the right. Elsewhere, the short 14th plays across a quarry setting, and the finish keeps pressure on through sloping greens and carefully placed hazards.
