The Public Links by Donabate Beach

The golf course at Corballis Links Golf Club traces its beginnings to 1906, when employees of nearby Portrane Hospital laid out the first holes on the Donabate dunes. It became a full 18-hole course after Donabate Golf Club formed in 1928. Public ownership followed in 1971, and Fingal County Council took responsibility for the property in 1994.

Corballis has an unusual scoring pattern for an 18-hole links. Seven par threes dominate the card. Five par fours are short, and the round contains only one par five. Blind shots appear early, while raised greens and firm ground make landing position important when the wind changes.

Ron Kirby reshaped the front nine after being commissioned in 2007. Four older holes were replaced by a coastal sequence from the 4th to the 7th, bringing play closer to Donabate Beach and opening views towards the Irish Sea and Lambay Island.

The course remains compact, yet the dunes and changing wind keep its bold green sites demanding.
