The Nicklaus Signature Course at St. Mellion Estate welcomed its first players in 1988, becoming Jack Nicklaus's first European course design. Built across rolling farmland in the Tamar Valley, it moves through wooded slopes and valleys rather than following a flat resort plan.

Elevated tees show much of the challenge before each shot, but the landing areas remain exacting. Sculpted fairways lead towards multi-tiered greens, with bunkers and water placed to punish a weak line. At the 203-yard 11th, the tee shot drops from high ground and must cross a river running in front of and beside the green. The following par-five 12th follows a tree-lined valley, where a stream stays close to the right before cutting across the approach.

The course received major improvements completed in 2022. Work included new tees on two holes, refurbished bunkers, upgraded drainage and irrigation, and a fairway topdressing programme. These changes improved playability while retaining the strategic demands behind its distinct Nicklaus character.
