Rebuilt Beside Sandwich Bay

The golf course at Prince's Golf Club opened in 1907, laid out by Charles Hutchings and Percy Lucas on Sandwich Bay. Its early reputation reached a peak in 1932, when Gene Sarazen led every round of The Open and won with a record total of 283.

Wartime military use left the original course badly damaged. Sir Guy Campbell and John Morrison rebuilt it as 27 holes, reopening in 1952. Today's Shore, Dunes, and Himalayas loops each play to par 36, allowing three different 18-hole pairings. Shore runs closest to the coastline, Dunes turns through enclosed duneland, and Himalayas brings wetlands and more dramatic modern features.

Mackenzie & Ebert have continued updating the property since 2017, most notably reworking the Himalayas with the Bloody Point par 3, a shared double green, and the Sarazen bunker. In 2026, the club introduced The Laddie, a composite course using selected holes from all three nines for future championship play.

Prince's gives a Kinfern South East England golf experience a flexible base beside two other former Open venues. The Lodge sits at the entrance, allowing golfers to stay close to the first tee and play more than one loop without moving hotels.
